Ho Tay 50k

Updated: Dec 7, 2019

The noodles, the soups, the barbecues - Vietnam's cuisine is, rightly so, becoming more and more famous worldwide. For those living and working in Hanoi, however, it can be easy to give in to western temptations and lose sight of the weird, wonderful and delicious food that makes Hanoi unique.

Street food joints are often small, hard to find, and can be daunting to approach. After one too many times driving through the city, surrounded by great food but not sure where to go, I found myself wishing that a guide existed to show me the good stuff.

I’ve started this blog with the aim of finding and promoting great street food in the Tay Ho area - I want to help you find a new favourite spot, connect with the local food culture, and save you some money in the process.

One rule: each dish has to cost less than 50,000 VND. I’m only focusing on the north side of West Lake for now, as that is where a lot of us lazy westerners live (and because to provide a definitive guide for the whole city would be a nearly impossible task.)

This blog isn't about living as cheaply as possible in Hanoi. The best Vietnamese food is great food! The low price is just a bonus.

Street food joints are endless, and no two are quite the same, so I know I've missed some of your favourites. If you have a suggestion, drop us a comment on Facebook or email us here: tayho50k@gmail.com.

Xin mời!
